2019 (JEMUN Conference 2019)

Two 2nd year students, Yuuna Hatashi and Mei Fukushima, participated at the JEMUN conference held annually at Kinki University in Osaka from July 13-15. This conference focuses on global issues that students and volunteer advisors work together to discuss issues and possible resolutions similarly to what an official United Nations conference might do. This is an opportunity to use English in a practical manner to broaden minds and develop new friendships. This year there were 492 participants from various high schools and universities in Japan and other nations. The theme this year was “At the Crossroads of Climate Change”. Ms. Hatashi worked as a video journalist, while Ms. Fukushima worked as a newspaper journalist. Their specific meeting room discussion focused on, “Addressing Children’s Vulnerability to Climate Change and Disasters.” It was “a very challenging, but exciting experience” for both students. They are already looking forward to attending next year’s conference and encouraging others to join them. Great job!
