2023年12月7日から10日まで、宮崎国際大学(MIU)の学生5名が教員2名と一緒に、中国学園大学(CGU)との連携PBLプロジェクトで本学を訪問しました。 この協力の目的は、地元の文化や歴史を理解し、、英語や日本語でのコミュニケーション力を磨き、両大学の間に強力かつ永続的なつながりを構築するために実施されました。
まず、MIUグループは千葉学長を表敬訪問し、宮崎と岡山との類似性や違いについて話し、記念品の交換を行いました。
続いて、国際教養学部1年生がMIUグループと交換会を実施しました。 学生たちは最初は恥ずかしがっていましたが、すぐにリラックスして宮崎からの学生と会話を始めました。
その後、2 日間にわたって、CGU の学生と教員が MIU のグループに同行し、岡山を代表する文化的、歴史的に重要な4カ所を訪れました。 8日(金)は倉敷アイビースクエアと美観地区を訪れ、9日(土)は岡山後楽園と岡山城を訪れました。
それぞれの場所で、CGU の小グループの学生が、その場所を紹介するために準備された短いプレゼンテーションを英語で説明しました。 驚くほど暖かい天候の中、一緒に風光明媚なエリアをゆっくり歩きながら、学生たちは多くの興味深い点を説明し、質問に答えていました。 もちろん、CGUの学生たちからも宮崎についての質問がありました。 英語と日本語で一緒に話すことで、彼らはお互いについて学びました。
両大学の学生は、共同プロジェクトの文化的および言語学習の目標を達成したことに加えて、新しい友達を作り、とても楽しい経験ができたと報告しています。また、学生たちは、英語コミュニケーションスキルを向上させるために、より真剣に英語を勉強し練習する意欲が高まったと報告しています。加えて、CGUの学生も自分たちが住んでいる地域についても多くのことを学びました。
From December 7th to 10th, 2023, five students from Miyazaki International University (MIU), together with two faculty members, visited our university for a collaborative PBL project with Chugoku Gakuen University (CGU). The purpose of this cooperation was to understand the local culture and history, improve communication skills in English and Japanese, and build strong and lasting connections between the two universities.
First, the MIU group paid a courtesy visit to President Chiba, talked about the similarities and differences between Miyazaki and Okayama, and exchanged souvenirs.
Next, first-year students from the School of International Liberal Studies held an exchange meeting with the MIU group. Although the students were shy at first, they soon relaxed and started talking with the students from Miyazaki.
Over the next two days, CGU students and faculty accompanied the MIU group to four culturally and historically important sites in Okayama. On the 8th (Friday), we visited Kurashiki Ivy Square and Bikan Historical Quarter, and on the 9th (Saturday) we visited Okayama Korakuen and Okayama Castle.
At each location, small groups of CGU students presented short presentations prepared in English to introduce the location. The students explained many interesting points and answered questions as we slowly walked together through the scenic area in surprisingly warm weather. Of course, CGU students also had questions about Miyazaki. By speaking together in English and Japanese, they learned about each other.
In addition to meeting the cultural and language learning goals of the joint project, students from both universities reported that they made new friends and had a very enjoyable experience. Students also reported that they were more motivated to study and practice English more seriously to improve their English communication skills. In addition, CGU students also learned a lot about the region in which they live.
